Marinate your thoughts and ideas in your conscious and subconscious.

tl;dr The mind is a very powerful tool. Leverage your conscious and subsconscious when building on thoughts and ideas.

Let your ideas and thoughts marinate

Ideas and thoughts are coming to you in your conscious mind.

It could an inkling of a solution to a coding problem. Maybe a design thought that may be right for the workflow that you have been thinking about. It could be a nudge or total revamp of the processes on the team’s flow.

  • Think about it
  • Write it down
  • Give it a pause or break in time, essentially step away
  • Repeat

When we do this, the solution to the problem marinates, gets richer and thicker. It’s a balance between rushing it and waiting too long.

Use the power of the subconscious

However, make sure you use the power of the subconscious mind in addition to the conscious.

Your subconscious mind will keep working on it aka marinating it, to get a richer solution.

What does that mean? If you are comfortable, and if it works for you, make sure to briefly glance at the problem you are trying to solve and the solutions you have been thinking about before going to bed. It could be reading your notes, meditating on it or some combination of them all.

Experiment and find what works for you. Stay consistent.
